Safe Boating Basics
Learn the aspects of boating safely and legally in ONE DAY of classroom instruction. A “must” for all boaters, all ages. This class usually lowers your boat insurance premium. Massachusetts approved for young operator’s permit (age 12 – 16). Approved for all ages in Rhode Island. Minimum 8 students required to hold class
Basic Coastal Navigation
Offers instruction on the fundamentals of coastal navigation from the perspective that the student has no current knowledge of navigation techniques. A must for anyone intending to do any coastal cruising.
Topics covered include: latitude/longitude, compass theory, variation and deviation, navigation tools, charts, bearing conversion, distance/speed/time calculations, 3 point fixes, basic tide and current theory, proper plotting techniques and more.
This 8-hour curriculum includes 2 to 3 hours hands-on chart work using skills taught. All materials included.
Advanced Coastal Navigation
Continues the instruction from where the basic class leaves off.
Topics include: tide and current calculations, determining corrections for set and drift before departure and once underway, running fixes and advancing lines of position, restricted visibility piloting, two and three point fixes.
This 8-hour curriculum includes 2 to 3 hours hands-on chart work using skills taught. All materials included.

This one day class includes Chart Plotters, Radar, AIS, (DSC) VHF Radio, Fishfinders, Autopilots, and more.
